Note to our readers: This group is currently on hiatus, but we are not gone forever. We will return to roam the streets of Brookland once again.

In the meantime, you can find pictures and poems from our previous readings under the Poetry and Prose tab.

Background

The first Wednesday of every month we have a “themed” poetry reading.  What, you may ask, is a “themed” poetry reading?  The poets each choose 3-5 poems, from a variety of poets, that address a specific theme.  Each poet interprets the theme a little differently and each brings his or her own aesthetic to the poems chosen and to the reading.  It makes each reading an adventure.  Plus we all have an opportunity to hear and learn about many different poets.  Out themes have included such topics as: chocolate, dog poetry, independence, “hot” poems, “cold” poems, poems about stars and light.

All readings are co-sponsored by The American Poetry Museum and held at the Center for Poetic Thought, on the Brookland Artswalk, Studio #25.
